Europe is in the middle of a huge debate between the ethical concerns regarding whether or not to grant Syrian refugees into Europe. The global catastrophe has clear ethical considerations; however, these refugees should not be denied into all of Europe because they are trying to escape. In story of Parvana shows us the lives lead by victims of war and poverty. Not only are they abused and beaten, but they are also stripped of their rights and forced to live under the rule of cruel and malicious forces. Refugees should be allowed into Australia because not only are they humans like us, but they also have the same intelligence as us allowing them to contribute just as much.

On a cold winter afternoon in , I was having lunch at home with my family when Teekay, our dog, began to howl, signaling the presence of intruders. I rushed outside and found my father, bloodied, as a dozen armed soldiers beat him. The officers had brought other men, their ankles and wrists bound, neighbors from our village, Indra Chowk, in the remote Dagana district of Bhutan. They looked terrified. A few soldiers dragged my father inside the house and demanded that he surrender our government-issued documents, including citizenship certificates. Our family, like thousands of other Bhutanese citizens of Nepali origin, known as the Lhotshampa, were classified as illegal aliens under the Bhutan Citizenship Act of

A young family fleeing from Bangladesh comes to Bhutan and needs to start a new life. The family does not see much, since half of the country is covered with the Himalayan mountain range. The family is unable to visit any beaches or coastline due to the fact that Bhutan is a landlocked country. As the family tries to start their new lives, they have trouble finding clean, potable water and are limited with their options for jobs. This struggle for finding clean water and limited food.
