What is a epossible thesis statement based on the theme of a dolls house by henrik ibsen and in your opinion what is the theme? There are multiple themes in this play but the main one IMO is the exploration in dramatic form of the fate of women to whom society denies any reasonable opportunity for fulfillment. My favorite part was how Nora flirts with her Doctor because it wasn't foreshadowed and completely unexpected.
A Doll House
Leaving a troubling marriage, Nora does not see her departure as wrong because she believes the most sacred duties are the ones to herself. This captures the overall theme of the sacrificial role of women society expects them to inhabit. He continues to speak to her in a childish manner because he views her for her appearance and not for who she really is.
The main characters in the play pretend to be someone who others would like them to be, instead of being their true selves. The person that stands out the most as a character whose role play is almost impeccable to the point where it seems she leads two different lives is Nora. In the first act, Nora seems to just want money from her husband Torvald. Even when asked what she would like for Christmas, money is her answer. Is my squirrel in the sulks?
